For holiday home owners

Donate a break

Donate time in your UK holiday let to a family in need of a break.

Time Away have a simple mission: to give families caring for children with serious disabilities or complex health needs the chance to rest, reconnect and recover. If you own a holiday cottage, lodge, apartment or manage a holiday park, donating a short break is a straightforward way to make a real difference.

Whether you’re ready to donate now or just want to understand how it works, we’ll guide you through every step. Your generosity can bring joy and relief to families who rarely get the chance to spend quality time together.

Why donate to Time Away?

Families caring for a child with additional needs face challenges that touch every part of life. The emotional strain, the financial pressures and the constant medical appointments can leave little space for rest or joy. Many parents have to give up work to provide full-time care, and the extra costs of disability can reach nearly £1,000 a month. This often leads to:

  • Stress that puts relationships under strain
  • Siblings missing out on attention and experiences
  • Financial hardship and reduced household income
  • Mental health struggles and social isolation

These pressures can stretch families to breaking point. A donated holiday offers more than just a change of scenery – it’s a lifeline.

The difference it makes

How a donated break helps

When a family receives a break through Time Away, they gain precious time together away from the relentlessness of daily life, endless hospital appointments and ongoing therapies. Our impact shows that donated holidays lead to:

  • Stronger family relationships and bonding
  • Greater resilience and emotional stability for parents
  • Better mental health outcomes
  • Reduced pressure on health and social services
  • Renewed energy to provide the care their child needs

For many families, it’s the first chance in years to relax and feel supported – all thanks to the kindness of holiday let owners like you.

Our story

Why UK holiday let owners choose Time Away

Time Away was founded by Alex and Ilmarie Braun, who ran a holiday let business in Anglesey for nearly a decade. As parents of a severely disabled child, they know first-hand how transformative a donated break can be. That’s why we make the process simple, secure and rewarding for property owners.

Join us

Whether you own one cottage or manage many properties, donating a holiday through Time Away is a simple, powerful way to give back. Together, we can offer families the chance to rest, reconnect and feel supported – without disrupting your business.

How does it work?

Step 1

Tell us about your break

You decide how many nights you would like to offer to Time Away (minimum 2) and when the break would begin. You also give us some basic details about your property, and a link to your website or agent’s page if you have one.

Step 2

We create your listing

We use this information to create a standardised property listing which will feature on our property portal.

Step 3

Families book directly

Once you have agreed to our terms and conditions your listing will be activated, and the break will then be available to book directly by Time Away families.

Making sure every break is used

Our experience has led us to create a two stage listing system so as to manage supply and the significant demand we experience. Initially the break will only be available for families of a child under the age of 5. Any breaks then still available within 8 weeks of arrival are made available for families of older children. This approach helps to ensure that all donated breaks are booked.

We also operate a WhatsApp channel where we list any last minute donations or cancellations, once again, to ensure that all donations are used by families who really need a break.
